My 4 years at Laurentian University have come and gone so quickly its hard to even believe they happened at all! Of course, I’ve learned so much from my courses and my professors, but there are some things I’ve learned along the way that have nothing to do with what program I was in and what I chose to study. I wanted to share with you all 5 things that being in University has taught me about myself and about life!
DO YOU. Do whatever makes you happy, and never let anyone tell you otherwise.
2. Take care of my body, mind and soul.
The best thing I ever did for myself was to make sure that I always made time to be with people or to do things that made me happy, or filled my soul with joy and contentment. Sometimes, the pressure of studying or getting your readings done can really take a toll on you. You HAVE to find ways to relax and take care of yourself. Its not always the same for everyone, so find things that really make you happy are key. Here are some of the
things I incorporated into my schedule in order to relieve stress and unwind
- Spend time with family and friends
- Have a part time job
- Listen to podcast
3. The value of hard work.
In school. In work. In relationships (both with myself and with others). Never underestimate the power of hard work and perseverance. If you work hard, good things will come to you. Keep on that grind guys.
4. To try and to learn new things.
Don’t be afraid to open yourself up to new opportunities. Whether it be new food, new people, new adventures… DO IT You’ll find that your mind begins to expand wider and wider, ideas will come to mind more smoothly and your perception of the world will be ever changing! You never know what doors will open for you!
This is HUGE. My “plan” self destructed and I was SHOOK. But don’t worry, these things will make you better, and you’ll be surprised at what you’ll find in the rubble.
Stay strong fellow Voyageurs! Enjoy your time, because its over before you know it.
